On October 20, 2023, Olha Vovk, a member of the CITY AND WAR project, took part in the webinar "UNESCO - management of World Heritage Sites on the example of European cities."
The webinar discussed the benefits and opportunities for cities that open up after the inclusion of monuments in the World Heritage List. There was also a discussion about the challenges associated with the management of World Heritage Sites.
The speakers were representatives of the Organization of World Heritage Cities, the Vilnius Old Town Renovation Agency (Lithuania), the Department for the Protection of the Old Town Center and Historical Heritage of the City of Split (Croatia), the Department of Culture and National Heritage of the City of Krakow (Poland), and the Department of Cultural Heritage Protection of Warsaw (Poland).
The listeners and discussants were representatives of several Ukrainian cities, particularly those with sites holding the status of World Heritage (Kyiv, Lviv, Odesa, Chernivtsi) and cities whose sites can potentially receive this status (Kharkiv and Chernihiv).
