On 10 November 2022, a round table on "Preservation and Rethinking of the Cultural Heritage of Ukrainian cities in Times of the War: History, Politics, Memory" was held as part of the III International Scientific and Practical Conference "Transformation of Historical Memory." The discussion of the current challenges facing the cultural heritage of Ukraine was organized within the CITY AND WAR project.
On May 14-15, 2021, in order to summarize the outcomes of the CityFace project, the international academic seminar "In Search of the City Face: Practices of Self-Representation of Multinational Cities of Ukraine in the Industrial and Post-Industrial Era" was held. The seminar was attended by more than 50 scholars from universities in Kharkiv, Dnipro, Odessa, Vinnytsia, Zaporizhzhia, Kyiv, Berdiansk, and Ostroh. Scholars from Ukraine, Germany, and Poland reviewed the reports.
On November 27, 2020, a roundtable with the participation of young scholars "Urban Studies in Ukraine: Urban Space and Symbolic Images" was held online.
The conference brought together researchers from different cities of Ukraine and abroad. It was dedicated to the 250th anniversary of the founding of Zaporizhzhia.
On 22 May 2019, the V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University hosted another academic seminar within the framework of the project "CityFace: Practices of the Self-Representation of Multinational Cities in the Industrial and Post-Industrial Era." The seminar was attended by representatives of several of Kharkiv’s institutions of higher education: V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, Kharkiv State Academy of Culture, O.M. Beketov Kharkiv National University of Urban Economy, etc.
A seminar on "The Historian in the Digital Age: Research Challenges, Tools, Practices" was held on 12 April 2019. The event focused on the problems of using digital tools and methods in historical and archaeological research today. The participants also discussed how modern information technology could help scholars present their work and explore multidisciplinary approaches.
On 8 February 2019, the V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University hosted a research-to-practice seminar on "The Ukrainian Other in History, Historiography, and the Politics of History," organized by the charitable foundation “Institute for the Development of Education” and V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, with the participation of the Institute of the History of Ukraine at the NAS of Ukraine and financial support of the Kennan Institute.
On November 28-30, 2018, another seminar was held as part of the ongoing international research project "CityFace: Practices of the Self-Representation of Multinational Cities in the Industrial and Post-Industrial Era."
On November 9, 2018, an international conference was held on the subject of "Kharkiv-Poznań: Common Trends of Historical Development across Centuries." The event was co-organized by the G.S. Skovoroda Kharkiv National Pedagogical University, V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, and the Faculty of History at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań (Poland).
On July 6, 2018, the international academic seminar "Urban Studies in Ukraine: Current Issues (Foundational Session)" was held. The chief organizer of the event was the Department of Historiography, Source Studies, and Archaeology at the V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University.
